About the Author:
Pastor Rock Leier was born and reared on a grain and cattle ranch in central North Dakota during the turbulent 1930 through 1950 era. After graduation from high school, he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps in 1952 at the height of the Korean conflict. After a very rigorous training schedule, his unit was being prepared to ship out to Korea in late 1954. Then a cease fire was enacted, upon which hostilities ended and Corporal Leier opted to be discharged from military service.
He immediately entered the electrical engineering curriculum at the University of Colorado in Boulder. When he completed this training, he and his wife moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he began working for a small engineering company in the defense industry. After years of yearning to live once again in small-town America, he joined a large manufacturing / engineering firm in a smaller community in south central Minnesota. While there, he attended Minnesota State University and earned a degree in business administration.
God was mightily at work during this period in his life, and as a result he subsequently became a believer in Jesus Christ. Having a strong urge to become a missionary, he and his wife joined Wycliffe Associates in 1986. this group is a part of Wycliffe Bible Translators. About ten years later, he became a pastor with the Assemblies of God and planted a church for that group, retiring in 2004.
As author, retired pastor, missionary, and businessman, Pastor Rock and his wife of over fifty years are the parents of two adult daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. They make their home in Florida and Minnesota.
